Accessibility

At Causey, we are committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to all users, regardless of their abilities. Accessibility is a crucial aspect of our product development, and we are actively working toward meeting the needs of all users by adhering to internationally recognized guidelines.

Our Accessibility Goals

We are dedicated to making Causey compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0. These guidelines provide a comprehensive set of recommendations to enhance web content accessibility for users with diverse needs. Specifically, we are working toward:

  • WCAG 2.0 A compliance by December 1, 2025
  • WCAG 2.0 AA compliance by December 1, 2026

What Does This Mean for You?

  • WCAG 2.0 A compliance covers essential accessibility features such as text alternatives for non-text content, providing users with multiple ways to interact with and understand information on the platform.
  • WCAG 2.0 AA compliance includes enhanced features like better contrast ratios for improved readability and clearer navigation to support a more inclusive user experience.

Steps We’re Taking to Improve Accessibility

We’ve begun a thorough review of Causey to identify areas where we can improve accessibility. Below are some of the key steps we’re taking as we move toward our compliance goals:

  1. Text Alternatives for Images and Multimedia

All images and videos will include meaningful alternative text to ensure users relying on assistive technologies can engage with the content effectively.

  2. Keyboard Navigation Support

We are ensuring that every interactive element within Causey can be accessed and operated using just a keyboard, without needing a mouse or other pointing devices.

  3. Color Contrast Adjustments

We are enhancing our color schemes to meet WCAG guidelines for contrast, improving readability and usability for users with visual impairments.

  4. Clear and Consistent Navigation

We are making Causey's navigation more intuitive and consistent across the platform, making it easier for users to find the information they need.

  5. Simplified Content

We are reviewing the content across Causey to ensure that it is clear, simple, and easy to understand for all users.

Future Plans

In addition to the current improvements, we are laying the foundation for WCAG 2.0 AA compliance by 2026. These future developments will include:

  • Enhanced functionality for users with varying input methods and screen sizes.
  • Improved options for resizing text and content.
  • More detailed error messages and contextual help for users when they encounter problems.

Known Issues

While we are actively improving accessibility, there are still a few areas where we are working to meet our goals. Below is a list of known issues that are currently being addressed:

  • Image Alt Text: Some older images and third-party media may not have alt text descriptions. We are actively reviewing and updating these to ensure all images are properly labeled.
  • Keyboard Focus Indicators: Certain parts of the platform have less visible keyboard focus indicators, making it difficult for keyboard users to navigate. Improvements are in progress to address this issue.
  • Form Accessibility: Some form fields may lack appropriate labels for screen readers. We are updating all forms to ensure full compatibility.
  • Color Contrast on Legacy Pages: A few older sections of the platform may not meet WCAG 2.0 AA color contrast standards. We are systematically addressing this as part of our ongoing updates.
  • Rich Text Editor Accessibility: Our rich text editor allows users to perform basic formatting operations (e.g., bold, italics) using keyboard shortcuts, but more advanced operations are currently inaccessible via keyboard or assistive technology. We are working on expanding the accessibility of this feature.
  • Navigation Challenges in Strategy Application: Our main strategy application has some difficulties when it comes to navigation, particularly for users relying on screen readers or keyboard-only navigation. We are actively working to improve this experience.
